Bernie Machen, University of Florida President

Duke University announced today that Kyle Cavanaugh has accepted a position there as Vice President of Human Resources. He will be leaving UF in January.

Kyle has made a tremendous contribution to UF during his time here and he will be missed. I have named Brian Beach as Interim Senior Vice President and he will begin working with Kyle on the transition immediately.

As we all know, this is one of the most difficult times in the University’s history due to the revenue shortfalls being experienced by the state. We anticipate that additional budget cuts will be necessary and these cuts need to be identified during the next three months and through the legislative session that begins in March. In these challenging times the continuity in our leadership is critical and by appointing Brian to the interim position, that continuity is guaranteed.
