as Director of the University Press of Florida effective October 4th, 2019. Ms.
Gutierrez has fifteen years of experience in scholarly communication, academic
publishing, and management of complex initiatives. As Director, she will
provide leadership to refine strategic priorities to better meet the challenges
facing university presses today, prepare for the challenges yet to come, and
seize the many opportunities available to the UPF.

Distance Learning Fees / Dates and Deadlines

Applications to request Distance Learning Fees for the spring 2020
term are now being accepted through PeopleSoft.  All departmental applications should be
submitted no later than Wednesday October 9th and Dean’s approval is
required by Wednesday October 16th.

applications are required each semester for all courses as they are not carried

This is to announce an internal UF faculty search for the
position of Director of Campus Experience.

This position will report directly to the Provost.

The Director’s portfolio will include the following;

*Coordinating cross-campus
improvements in student and parent experience.  Involves working with
various campus units and services, including Admissions, Student Financial Aid,
Registrar, Advising, Business Services, Housing, Faculty Senate, etc.

Carryforward Expenditure Policy

Recently passed legislation is prompting changes to Board of
Governors regulations with respect to university operating budgets. Based on
the proposed regulation changes, the university is implementing new
restrictions for E&G state appropriations. Effective with the current
FY19-20 fiscal year, the university is required to submit a detailed
carryforward spending plan for approval by both the Board of Trustees and Board

Spring 2020 Textbook Adoptions

The textbook adoption system for spring 2020 is now available to
faculty and departments to submit their textbook adoptions and materials
requirements.  Please visit
to enter spring 2020 adoptions. 

In order to facilitate timely ordering of materials by the UF
Bookstore, please submit adoptions, by October 28, 2019.

The deadline for spring 2020 adoptions is November 22, 2019 for
compliance with Florida Statutes.

invited to submit nominations for the UF Teacher/Scholar of the Year Award for
2019-2020.  Originating in 1960, this is the University of Florida’s most
prestigious and oldest faculty award. 

It offers an
honorarium of $6,000 in addition to other appropriate recognition, such as the
automatic induction to UF’s Academy of Distinguished Teaching Scholars

following university approval process for travel and taking leave.

Faculty who plan to be absent from their assigned campus duties must do so with the knowledge and concurrence of their Chair/Director.  “Assigned campus duties” includes assigned classroom instruction, office hours, and other service activities as assigned.  Faculty may not cancel assigned campus duties or substitute other faculty members to perform them without the concurrence of the Chair/Director.
