Twenty-third Annual Multicultural Student Recognition Program
Thomas L. Alexander, III, Assistant Dean for Student Services
Plans are under way for the twenty-third annual recognition of minority student scholars and leaders. We will again use the reception format for our recognition of outstanding minority students who have excelled in scholarly pursuits and leadership activity. The program is designed to give the various schools, colleges, and departments an opportunity to recognize those Hispanic, African-American, Asian, and Native American students in their respective areas.
The Twenty-third Annual Multicultural Student Recognition Program is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 1996 at 6:00 p.m. in the J. Wayne Reitz Union Ballroom. We will introduce the recipients as they have been identified by you via a brief ceremony, and we ask that a representative from your area be on hand to recognize those students from your area. The presenting department, and/or organization will have the responsibility of coordinating the awards through its college, as well as for all plaques and/or certificates.
A souvenir program listing the recipients and their accomplishments will be available on the evening of the reception. In order to facilitate this, we ask that you forward to Thomas Alexander, Office for Student Services, P202 Peabody Hall, the names, a brief description (no more than 50 words) of the awards accomplishments, the award being given, and the name of your area representative who will be attending the reception. Please have this information to me no later than Friday, March 8, 1996.
If you have concerns, questions, and/or ideas about this effort, please contact my secretary, Mamie Austell, at 392-1261. We want to make this program special, therefore, your prompt response and cooperation is necessary. I look forward to working with you on this project.
