Evaluation of Graduate Assistants for Fall 1996
Rita Cowan
The Collective Bargaining Agreement states that each graduate assistant shall be evaluated in writing for each appointment which is one semester or longer. This evaluation is to cover the assigned duties and responsibilities as are appropriate to the assignment. It is to be discussed with the employee and then signed by the person performing the evaluation. The employee shall be given the opportunity to sign the document as well. The evaluation should then be placed in the employee’s evaluation file and a copy given to the graduate assistant. The employee may attach a concise comment to the evaluation. Please refer to Article 3 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Enclosed is a computer listing of graduate assistants assigned to your department/unit for evaluation purposes. The listing is provided to assist you in identifying graduate assistants employed in your area that are to be included in the evaluation process for this term. For your convenience, we have included the name of each student’s supervisor that should be responsible for conducting the evaluation. Please fill in the date of the evaluation, sign, and return to the Academic Personnel Office by January 3, 1997. Copies of the evaluation are not to be sent to Academic Personnel.
If the ending date of the student’s current contract extends beyond this term and you will be evaluating him/her at a later date, please indicate this in the Remarks section of the form. If there is a discrepancy with the information listed or you need further information, please contact Kay Shipp or me at 392-1251.
