Temporary Freeze on the Disposition of Public Records

Will Henson, Director

As a result of the ongoing lawsuit involving the State of Florida and the tobacco industry, the Attorney General’s office has ordered a freeze on the disposition and destruction of all records in most state agencies, including the State University System.

Until further notice, all destruction of records by all offices and departments at the University of Florida is to be halted. This includes records previously approved for destruction and those records that normally may be destroyed without obtaining prior approval (see Rule 1B-24.010 F.A.C.). While there is no specific duration for this freeze, at present, it is expected to remain in effect through at least March 1997. I will keep you informed as details are made available. If you have any further questions, please call or e-mail. My number is 392-4180 and my e-mail address is whenson@nervm.nerdc.ufl.edu.
