Instructions for Spring Commencement

Assembly time for all faculty and platform guests is 7:45 a.m. or 1:45 p.m. Processional begins promptly at 8:45 a.m. or 2:45 p.m. There is no recessional. Commencement convocations begin at 9:30 a.m. or 3:30 p.m.

Division I
Members of the faculty holding the rank of Distinguished Professor, Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor and Instructor, and Associate Dean, Assistant Dean and Department Chair will enter the O’Connell Center through the northwest doors (opposite the football practice field). Look for the placard designating the faculty assembly point.
Division II
The President, Provost, Vice Provost, Vice Presidents, Deans, assigned Marshals and others notified by special letter will assemble in the Martial Arts Room, 1306.
Academic Regalia
Formal academic regalia are required. Caps, gowns and hoods should be ordered from the University of Florida Bookstore before March 7. Payment is required when placing your order. This payment is refundable until May 2, the day before commencement.
Escorts and Faculty Guests
Doctoral degree candidates will be escorted by their doctoral committee chair or a department-appointed alternate. Faculty members who wish to attend the ceremony are encouraged and welcome to do so. Please notify Carl Beeman, Chief Marshal at 392-0785, of your intentions. He will provide further information. Formal academic regalia are required of all faculty who participate in commencement.
Accommodations for Persons with Disabilities
Individuals (students, faculty or guests) with sight or hearing disabilities who require special accommodations should contact Jim Costello of Student Services, at 392-1261 (V) or 392-3008 (TDD), by April 18. Those with disabilities limiting mobility are to contact Mike DeLorenzo at the O’Connell Center, 392-5500, by April 18. Access to the O’Connell Center will be through Gate 4; special parking also is available in the lot by Gate 4.
