UF Trauma Response Team Training Opportunities

The University of Florida Trauma Response Team is sponsoring two training opportunities this semester. “Crisis Training 101” is scheduled September 29, 2000, 8:15 -11:30 am, 284 J. Wayne Rietz Union. The focus will be an overview of crisis management, skill training, and crisis protocol. The facilitators are Dr. Marshal Knudson, Director of the Alachua County Crisis Center, Dr. Wayne Griffin, Associate Director of the University Counseling Service, and Dr. Julie Sina, Dean of Students. Credit for Continuing Education will be provided for persons attending all components of this training. The workshop will provide three hours of continuing education credit for licensed Psychologists in Florida through the Board of Psychology, Agency of Health Care Administration (Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 59AA-13.003). The workshop will provide three hours continuing education credit for licensed Clinical Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Mental Health Counselors through Student Mental Health of the Student Health Services at UF. The SMHS is authorized by the Agency of Health Care Administration to offer continuing education credit as Provider SMHS PR#CM – 768 – Exp 1/2001. Participants will be required to sign in and provide an evaluation of the program at its conclusion to obtain their CE credits.

The Trauma Response Team is presenting a teleconference on October 16, 2000, 1 – 3 pm in the J. Wayne Reitz Union Auditorium. “Preparing for Crisis on Campus” features an interactive discussion with national experts and interviews with response team members from campuses across the country. The Gary Pavela from the University of Maryland will serve as the moderator of a panel which includes: Eugene Zdziarski, University of Maryland; Jim Scott, University of Florida; Rita Abent, Eastern Michigan, and; Alana Ennis, Burlington Vermont. The teleconference is presented and produced by the University of Vermont; American College Personnel Association; Association of College and University Housing Officers- International; Association for Student Judicial Affairs, and; International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
