Charles E. Young, President

It has come to my attention that a number of prominent individuals have visited the University of Florida in recent months to attend activities or as guests of colleges and units. While I strongly encourage programs to continue to invite elected officials and other distinguished visitors to our campus, it is important to adhere to established protocol on these occasions.

Below is a reference from the University of Florida Protocol Manual. Please consult these guidelines at http://www.prezoffice.ufl.edu/urhand.htm#Hosting or contact my office before making arrangements.

Hosting Special Guests

The President’s Office is responsible for the appropriate scheduling and hosting of all major special guests on campus, including such special guests as prominent elected and appointed officials, distinguished alumni and nationally or internationally recognized individuals.

The scheduling of special guests which involve the president of the university or otherwise have a significant impact on the university must be arranged with the President’s Office, 226 Tigert Hall, P.O. Box 113150, Campus. 392-1311. The president of the university should be contacted prior to inviting a prominent elected official to the University of Florida.
