David Colburn, Provost

Effective July 1, 2001, I have asked Dr. Joseph Glover to become Associate Provost in the Office of Academic Affairs, and I am pleased to report that he has accepted this position.

Dr. Glover joins Academic Affairs from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where he has served as the associate dean with responsibilities in the areas of faculty salaries, enrollment management, tenure and promotion, sabbaticals, new faculty/chair orientations, and various other faculty and graduate student issues.

In his new position, Dr. Glover will assume many of these same responsibilities in the Provost’s office. In particular, he will oversee enrollment management for the university, work closely with the Academic Personnel Board on tenure and promotion issues, coordinate the new faculty orientation, handle grievances, and take responsibility for a number of other initiatives.

I am very pleased to have Dr. Glover join this office. He has shown on several occasions that he can handle many administrative matters well. Moreover, he is very effective in addressing the needs and concerns of faculty, students, and staff. He will be a decided asset to this office as the university takes on the responsibility of governing itself under the new governance structure for higher education.
