It is an essential goal of the University of Florida to maintain a safe and comfortable workplace and academic setting for all members of the University community. In support of this commitment, the University of Florida has established standards of conduct that cover every member of our institution. Specifically, violent acts, threats (direct or implied), unlawful harassment, verbal or physical abuse, stalking, intimidation, and other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

As further support of the University’s commitment to a safe working and academic environment, a workplace violence policy has been established that includes three basic tiers.

  • Prevention emphasizes the importance of pre-employment screening that includes verifying credentials and performance in prior positions, recognizing warning signs, and addressing unacceptable behavior.
  • Threat Management focuses on reporting and addressing all threatening behavior and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Crisis Intervention addresses a plan of action in the event of a traumatic event.

Questions about this policy may be directed to the University Personnel Satellite Office convenient to you. Thank you for your commitment to making the University of Florida a safe and productive environment.
