John P. Kruczek, University Controller

Effective June 1, 2001, University rentals of Avis vehicles on the “FS” rate code will be charged an excess mileage charge when the rental mileage exceeds an average of 150 miles per day. The excess mileage charge applies only to the number of miles that exceed the average of 150 per day. This charge applies to rentals that originate and end in the State of Florida.

The excess mileage will be charged at the rate of an additional $.07 per mile for car groups X, A, Z, B and C and $.10 per mile for car groups D, E and V.

This charge is in addition to the current mileage charge for fuel of $.06 per mile for car groups X, A, Z, B and C and $.075 per mile for car groups D, E and V.

See the following examples for calculation of the excess mileage charge and current mileage charge for fuel.

Example – Charge for Excess Miles:

      Group C car
      2-day rental
    330 miles driven
      Total miles driven = 330
      2 days x 150 free miles per day = 300 free miles
Total miles driven (330) minus free miles (300) = 30 excess miles
    30 excess miles x $.07 per miles = $2.10

Example – Current Mileage Charge for Fuel: 330 (total miles driven) X $.06 = $19.80
