Day of Mourning, Prayer and Remembrance / Exams

Chuck Frazier, Vice Provost

As you know already, Congress has declared today a National Day of Mourning and President Bush has called for this day to be one of Prayer and Remembrance. While classes have not been suspended and normal work schedules will be continued, UF will observe the day expecting the same kind of understanding that faculty have shown all week. Despite the excellent work by faculty all over campus, some students have worried that there are still exams scheduled for the day. I am sure, if this is the case, it is only because they were scheduled long before the tragedy of September 11th or before the declaration of the day as one of mourning.

In the spirit of the day’s observance, all exams and other graded assignments scheduled for today either should be cancelled or all students requesting it need to be given ample opportunities to make-up missed work. Please pass this along to your faculty.
