Public concern is high regarding the potential threat created by chemical and biological agents sent through the mail. Guidance regarding the recognition and handling of mail to minimize the potential risk has been issued by various health and law enforcement agencies. Environmental Health and Safety has posted a summary advisory that addresses the recognition of potential problems and handling procedures on its web site.

It is recommended that this guidance be distributed to all individuals that may distribute, receive and open mail on the UF campus.
