Charles E. Young, President

There has been a good bit said in the newspapers about the recent special session of the State Legislature and the elimination of graduate student fee waivers from this year’s budget at the University of Florida.

I want all of you to know that graduate education is central to the mission of this university. We fully expect that the elimination of graduate student fee waiver money will come to us as part of a general reduction in our budget and that we will be able to decide where we take the cuts. If I am correct in this assumption and we have information to suggest that I am, we will honor our commitment to the graduate students and will not cut the fee waivers this year that have been allocated to colleges and centers. Moreover, in the future, we will continue to provide graduate tuition fee waivers for our students on assistantships and fellowships
