Mike Martin, Vice President

Pramod Khargonekar (Dean of the College of Engineering), Neil Sullivan (Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) and I have formed a task force to consider the creation of a university-wide institute to unify, coordinate and advance work being done at UF that relates to water. At the first task force meeting, it became obvious that there is a need for a list of all people at UF with interests relating to water. These interests may be directly related to water (e.g. hydrology or hydrogeology), or may be more peripheral (e.g. fisheries, aquatic plants, agriculture, social impacts of water, water law). We wish the list to be inclusive in order to develop as broad of a scope as possible.

This email is to request that you forward to Jon Martin (jmartin@geology.ufl.edu) the names of people in your department who may have an interest in such a Water Institute if it is created. We will use this information to demonstrate the wide range of work being done at UF on water and water- related issues. Equally important, we will use this list to solicit input from the wider UF community to include in the deliberations and recommendations of the Water Institute Task Force.

Thank you for your help.
