Telecommunications Billing Transition

John Madey, Associate Director

As part of its transition from the Physical Plant Division to the Office of Information Technology, the Telecommunications Department will be improving the billing process for our customers.

Instead of the current process of receiving 5 separate mailed invoices for Telecommunications’ services (monthly line charges, monthly equipment maintenance charges, work orders, Suncom long distance and AT&T international long distance), we will ultimately transition our billing to an online format.

With this new format we will notify our customers via email with a statement showing a summary of all of the current month’s telecommunications charges. A link will be provided for each charge such that customers will be able to review and print details of the invoice. Additionally, in order to assist in budget planning, customers will be able to view historical charges for the past 24 months.

As we transition to the online format for billing, there will be a period of time that your Telecommunications invoice will still be received as it is currently processed. Invoices for communication charges will be mailed from the Telecommunications Dept. Payments will be processed to Telecommunications’ new account number 480225161. The online billing format is expected to be in place by October 1, 2002.

We value our customers and we are here to serve you. Our goal is to continuously improve and streamline our business processes to increase our value to the University community and the online billing format will help meet that goal.

If you have any questions regarding your account or existing service, please contact Telecommunications at 392.1146 or jmadey@ufl.edu. For requests for new or additional services, please continue to contact Work Management at 392.1121 or workorder@admin.ufl.edu.

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS FOR TELECOM BILLING

We need your departments to go to the website listed on the bill and furnish us with two (2) Email addresses. Once this information is received your department will be notified via email each month when your bill has been run and is ready for you to retrieve. One important note is the Fiscal Dept. in Telecommunications will not be able to view the individual department bills until the information requested is furnished.

We welcome you to contact the Telecommunications Dept. at 392.1146 if you need any assistance during this transitional period. We thank you in advance for your patience as we strive to put in place new programs to better serve you.
