Appointment of Dr. Teresa Dolan as Dean, College of Dentistry
David R. Colburn, Provost and Senior Vice President and Douglas Barrett, Vice President for Health Affairs
We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Teresa A. Dolan has been named dean of the University of Florida College of Dentistry after serving an 11-month term as interim dean.
Dr. Dolan’s leadership skills have been apparent to all who work with her, and the way she has represented the College of Dentistry to students, faculty, alumni and practitioners has been a model to others. We are convinced that under her leadership the college will continue to strengthen its reputation as one of the finest dental programs in the country.
Dr. Dolan is currently directing the college in the implementation of a new strategic plan that calls for continued growth in the college’s research program and its statewide program of community-based dental services and dental education.
Dr. Dolan, a professor of dentistry, came to UF in 1989 and is well known for her work in geriatric dentistry and geriatric dental education. Her research has focused on access-to-care issues for indigent and elderly patients. Dr. Dolan, a native of Jersey City, N.J., earned her doctorate in dental surgery from the University of Texas and a master’s degree in public health from the University of California at Los Angeles. She continued her education by earning certificates in general dentistry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, in geriatric dentistry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Sepulveda, Calif. and in dental public health at UF.
