Michael V. McKee, University Controller

This DDDH memorandum supersedes the relevant guidance in the November 2001 Cellular Telephone Guidelines and in the September 2003 Telecommunications Charges DDDH memorandum.

Cellular telephones may be used for University business, however they should not be a primary mode of communication unless they are the most cost-effective and practical means to conduct business. De minimus personal use is allowed, however, any calls of a non-business nature that cause the University to incur any additional charges beyond the basic flat monthly service fee for the monthly plan minutes currently being charged shall be reimbursed to the University by the employee. Each department should establish procedures to ensure that invoices are properly reviewed and approved for payment.

State and University contracts are available on the Purchasing website: http://www.purchasing.ufl.edu/ for use or cost comparison when making a purchasing decision. Should you have questions concerning cellular telephone guidelines please contact Greg Dubois at 392-1331.
