Changes to the Office of Student Activities

The J. Wayne Reitz Union is pleased to announce a number of recent changes to the Office of Student Activities. The office has now been organized into two primary functional areas, Campus Programs and Student Involvement, each with its own director. In addition, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs has been relocated to Room 310 of the Reitz Union and is now an integral part of the Student Activities program. Key staff and responsibilities for each area are detailed below.

CAMPUS PROGRAMS – 392-1655

Advises all student organization leaders and members on campus program planning guidelines and University philosophy, rules & policies; Oversees permitting process for on-campus events; Oversees Reitz Union programs including Gator Nights! and Reitz Union Board (RUB) events; Advises large student-produced events including ACCENT, Student Government Productions, Dance Marathon and several Homecoming events such as Parade and SoulFest; Coordinates all programming for the Orange & Brew; Develops and implements marketing programs for the Stuff-To-Do calendar.

Oversees the management of the Student Activities Center and registration of the University of Florida’s 700 registered student organizations; Assists student organizations through peer education, faculty advisor training and on going evaluation of policies and procedures; Manages and executes campaigns to help new students identify involvement opportunities; Advises student government and supervise student government staff; advises Gator Growl; Oversees the University’s outdoor recreation program and the Outfitter.

Advises the four governing Greek councils (Interfraternity Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Panhellenic Council); Supports the sixty-one social sororities and fraternities and their 4,750 student members; Oversees the operations of the thirty-eight sorority and fraternity houses; Promoting and creating environments that advance the fraternal tenants of scholarship, service, leadership, and community through programs and services targeted at a variety of constituents: chapter leadership, chapter advisors, faculty/staff advisors, house directors, and house corporations, and parents.
