On July 21, 2005, the Florida Board of Governors approved a new procedure, advocated by the universities, for the adoption, amendment and repeal of university regulations (formerly known as rules). The “Regulation Development Procedure for State University Boards of Trustees” replaces the more cumbersome rulemaking procedures under the Florida Administrative Code. Under the BOG Procedure, University of Florida rules formerly adopted are now considered University of Florida regulations and remain in effect.

All of these regulations will be published on an official regulations website at http://regulations.ufl.edu. The website will allow persons to subscribe to email notification of proposed regulations as well as to search such notices and the regulations. When the University proposes to adopt or change a regulation, you will be notified by DDD memo of the proposed regulation just as you were for rules. This website will be the only location for publication of notices of regulation changes. No longer are we required to publish in the Gainesville Sun or the Florida Administrative Code.

Our office will continue to update you and the University community concerning these new streamlined procedures and the regulation process as we move into the coming academic year.
