Grants Pre-Award Fringe Calculation

In an effort to make the proposal process more accurate, a grants fringe calculation based on the employee’s actual expenses over the last thirty days will be implemented. The calculation will meet the university’s policy for fringe amounts to mimic actual fringe costs and will meet Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) cost procedures for calculating and charging fringe amounts to federal projects.

Employees with multiple jobs will have the fringes separated by Job. This will reduce the effort by grants personnel who must manually calculate the expenses and will ensure the University uses a standard approach for each fringe calculation.

The fringe calculation details can be found on the Bridges website at: http://www.erp.ufl.edu/grants/FringeCalculationwithMulti-Jobexample.doc
