J. Bernard Machen, President

I wanted to let you know that Pam Bernard, vice president and general counsel for the University of Florida, will be leaving us this summer to join Duke University in a similar role.

Pam has been a valuable contributor to the University for approximately 24 years and we will miss her. At the same time, we’re also happy for her and the opportunity at Duke. We know she’ll do a great job for them. And, in a way, it’s a chance for her to return home. Pam and her family have owned a home in western North Carolina for the past 25 years.

She will lead a staff that includes seven attorneys with responsibility for a wide range of legal issues, including health care, intellectual property, employment, real estate transactions and government regulation.

Pam received her juris doctor degree in 1981 from the University of Florida. She received her bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Florida in 1977.

A search for Pam’s replacement will begin in the near future. I hope you will all join me in wishing Pam the best of luck and continued success in her new endeavor.
