Purchasing Services would like to announce the award of the new “Compressed and Cryogenic Gas” contract. Term contract ITB07TO-112TC effective November 1, 2006 has been awarded to Airgas South. Airgas will be the sole University provider for industrial, specialty, medical, and cryogenic gases.

Users may set-up a purchasing account at Contact the Airgas account manager, Steve Crawford at for more information on the features of the website.

This contract will provide approximately a 10% annual savings to users on many of the gases and cylinder tank rentals. Go to the Purchasing website to get more detailed information

During this transition and until Airgas has in place their Liquid Nitrogen supply tank, users may still order their Liquid Nitrogen needs from Praxair until December 1, 2006. Praxair requests that orders be faxed or e-mailed, not called in. Additionally, please use your PCard if possible.

During this transition period, call Strate and Praxair to pick-up their tanks and have the driver document the quantity that was picked-up. This should be done as soon as practical. In many cases you are paying more for the tank rental than the value of any product left in the tank.
