Because leadership development is essential to the effective management of a university, we are pleased to announce a call for applications to join the UF Academy for 2009-2010. Designed for emerging leaders at our institution, the UF Academy focuses on immersion in the university culture and exposure to its organizational structure. This program represents an invaluable opportunity for professional development, including exposure to UF’s highest levels of administration, without any travel required for participants who work in Gainesville.

Applications to participate are being accepted from July 20 through close of business on August 28. Participation will last from October 2009 through June 2010—with our kickoff occurring on September 23. Up to 15 participants will be selected via a competitive application process.

For more information, including the application, please visit: http://www.hr.ufl.edu/training/leadership/default.asp.

Our Next Level Leadership program for existing UF leaders, which we are expanding for this coming year, will be launched in January 2010, with a call for applications occurring in early fall semester. Given the array of challenges the university currently faces, leadership development is increasingly essential as we equip our current and future leaders to support the institution.

Please join me in encouraging your area’s emerging leaders to submit an application for the UF Academy. This is a terrific opportunity to provide development for our rising stars. Thank you for your support.
