Summer/Fall 2010 Semester Textbook Adoptions
Joseph Glover, Provost
Faculty and departments should submit their Summer 2010 and Fall 2010 textbook adoptions and course materials requirements at http://www.textadoption.ufl.edu/ by March 26, 2010 so that this information is available to students during advance registration. This information is also available online to all bookstores to help them ensure appropriate arrival of texts for Summer and Fall terms and better prices for student book buybacks.
Students can view Summer and Fall course textbook and course materials requirements on ISIS under Schedule of Courses during advance registration, which begins March 29. This information helps students balance their course loads based on reading requirements and plan for their financial needs, including the purchasing of books. Timely entry of this information also provides students their best opportunity to sell books back at higher prices. Bookstores typically will not offer to buy back texts unless the text is listed as being used the next semester.
Timely posting of textbook requirements has the strong support of the student body, and it is now a requirement in Florida Statutes. UF students have overwhelmingly endorsed the availability of textbook information on-line and have indicated it aids in course selection.
For compliance-monitoring purposes, the final deadline date to submit text adoptions for Summer courses is April 2, 2010. The final deadline date to submit text adoptions for Fall courses is April 2, 2010.
