New Look for the UF Homepage (www.ufl.edu)
Andy Fletcher, Associate Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations
I am excited to let you know that the University of Florida’s homepage will have an updated look beginning next week. This long-overdue facelift launches Nov. 7 and is an intermediate step in our long-term efforts to maintain a contemporary and frequently refreshed Web presence for the university. The new “skin” for www.ufl.edu maintains all links previously found on the UF homepage and reflects the design UF&Shands originated for its web presence, which is currently in transition.
It is vitally important that we remain committed to a Web site refresh on a regular schedule. An 18-month comprehensive redesign, which requires developing new designs, content and site architecture for the website, will begin in early 2012, and involves constituents from across the university.
Templates for the intermediate UF homepage design will be available in both a WordPress and an HTML format in January 2012, for those university colleges, academic and administrative units that would like to use them.
I encourage all members of the university community to preview the new-look UF homepage. To see how our homepage will look next Monday, or to provide suggestions for the long-term project, please visit www.ufl.edu/redesign.
