New Director of the University of Florida Office of Sustainability

I am pleased to announce that Matthew I. Williams has accepted the position of Director for the Office of Sustainability. Mr. Williams will assume the role of Director on May 20, 2013.

Mr. Williams was instrumental in establishing the Office of Sustainability at Auburn University in addition to a wide range of sustainability related programs and collaborative projects across campus and the community. Mr. Williams currently serves as Program Manager for Sustainability at Auburn University.

Prior to his sustainability work at Auburn University, Mr. Williams worked as a research field biologist, a university instructor, and with the Institutional Purchasing Program, a non-profit Center for a New American Dream which worked with public and private institutions and governments to provide resources to make responsible procurement decisions.

Mr. Williams holds a B.S. and M.S. in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida, and is a Certified Energy Auditor through the Association of Energy Engineers.

Additionally, Mr. Williams has delivered numerous presentations, workshops and lectures on sustainability topics.

We look forward to Mr. Williams’ return to his alma mater. Join me in welcoming him when he begins his new role as Director.
