Dave Kratzer, Vice President for Student Affairs

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Shari Robinson, the Associate Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC), as the interim director of the CWC effective May 3, 2014.  Dr. Robinson started her University of Florida tenure in 2004 as the ASPIRE coordinator, received a promotion to Assistant Director of Outreach & Consultation in 2009 and then was promoted to Associate Director for Clinical Services in 2013.

Dr. Sherry Benton has stepped down from the CWC after 6 ½ successful years as the director of the CWC.  Dr. Benton will remain part of the Division of Student Affairs and she will move into a half-time research faculty position to focus on developing online counseling services to increase access to mental health care.   While director, she and her staff developed a highly effective on-line treatment for anxiety, Therapist Assisted Online (TAO).  Dr. Benton will pursue the commercialization of TAO, working in collaboration with the UF Office of Technology Licensing.

A national search for a director of the Counseling and Wellness Center will commence during the 2014-15 academic year.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Robinson to her new position as Interim Director of the Counseling and Wellness Center.
