Please advise new department chairs and directors in your area of the upcoming Academic Administrators Leadership Seminar series (AALS) and encourage them to register.

The three part series is designed to bring together department chairs, directors, associate deans and deans in discussions about academic administrative management at UF, and to provide ongoing training and updated information about management issues particularly for those who are new to their administrative roles.

The sessions will cover basic management issues, of which some will be:

  • Helping students in distress
  •  Managing Diversity
  • Staff relations: Evaluations, Compensation, Classification and Leave Management
  • How to use the UF Foundation
  • Offer Letters
  • Letters of Evaluation
  • Privacy and Security
  • University Budget and Fiscal Accountability
  • Office of Research, Contracts and Grants

The first session will be held on September 16, 2014 at Emerson Hall Alumni Hall (EAH) in Warrington Room from 8:30am-2:00pm.  The following two other sessions will be held in HR Building, 903 University Avenue, Room 120.
