I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mark E. Law as Director of the University Honors Program, beginning August 16, 2014. Dr. Law will assume the duties and responsibilities of Dr. Kevin Knudson who will assume his role as Professor of Mathematics on August 16, 2014.

Dr. Law is currently Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Engineering, Professor and past-Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He received the B.S. Cpr.E. from Iowa State University, and the M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University. He worked at Hewlett Packard before pursuing his graduate studies and joined the faculty at Florida in 1988. He served as Chair of Electrical & Computer Engineering for six years and then moved to the dean’s office in 2009. His current research interests are in integrated circuit process and device modeling and characterization. He has an impressive list of research, teaching, professional, and administrative achievements and awards including an NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow, College of Engineering Teacher of the Year, UF Research Fellow and Outstanding Young Alumni of Iowa State.

In addition, Dr. Law has significant experience in Honors programs. As a student, he was in the Honors Program at Iowa State University, and co-chaired the student honors board. Dr. Law helped found and currently chairs the external advisory board for the Honors Program at his alma mater.
