November 16 – 20 has been designated as International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW), a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, presents an annual opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. At the University of Florida, we are pleased to join this celebration and to highlight our many achievements and initiatives with a global reach.

As unique institutions dedicated to the development of human ingenuity and talent, universities have a central role to play in understanding and preparing students for our increasingly globalized world. The University of Florida is committed to moving to global center stage with its preeminence initiative.

UF is home to over 6,000 international students from more than 130 countries. We host almost 2,000 visiting scholars every year, and more than 2,000 of our students travel abroad to more than 50 destinations annually. UF faculty and staff continue to travel the world carrying out research, participating in conferences and workshops, and teaching. The UF International Center is here to help the entire campus community in your efforts to promote and support global learning, and to help prepare our students to excel in a globalized world.

Under the theme UF Rising Globally, we invite all colleges, departments, and centers to organize related international education activities of their own, and we would be delighted to help publicize your events through our IEW promotional portals. For help with this, and for additional information about International Education Week, please contact Mabel Cardec at mcardec@ufic.ufl.edu or 352-273-1515.

A list of activities hosted by the International Center, as well as other UF events marking IEW will be posted at https://www.ufic.ufl.edu/
