We are very pleased to announce a new international health insurance plan that will provide coverage for UF faculty, staff and graduate students while traveling abroad for conferences, research or other job-related activities. The policy is provided with the generous support of the Office of the Provost, and is effective as of 1 August 2017.

The new coverage is an extension of the existing TeamAssist emergency assistance insurance for all UF official travel registered with the UFIC travel registry. UF international travelers with emergencies abroad have at times been subject to significant out-of-network expenses on their existing health insurance policies. The new policy will address this gap by also providing health insurance coverage for all official UF international travel.

As in the past, insurance coverage for faculty, staff and graduate students requires registration on the UFIC travel registry:https://www.ufic.ufl.edu/TravelRegistration.html. Registration will automatically enroll travelers in the complete CISI ( http://www.ufic.ufl.edu/Documents/CISIHealthInsurancePlan.pdf) insurance program. Travelers are reminded that failure to register their international trips leaves them liable for any healthcare costs while abroad, and that they or their departments will be responsible for charges incurred in delivering emergency assistance to non-enrolled UF travelers.

Please note that student groups traveling for mission trips and similar programs must continue to purchase travel insurance. More information regarding coverage and eligibility can be found on the UFIC website at https://www.ufic.ufl.edu/Travel.html
