Fall 2018 Commencement Information
Steph McBride, Director of Commencements
There will be two university-wide commencement ceremonies coordinated by the Provost’s Office — a Doctoral Degree Ceremony on Friday, December 14th at 2:00pm in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center, and an all-degrees ceremony on Saturday, December 15th at 9:00am in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Additionally, except for the College of Dentistry, each college will hold their own recognition ceremony at a designated time during the same weekend. Dates, times and locations vary and can be found at https://commencement.ufl.edu.
Ordering Regalia: Regalia orders will be accepted through November 1, 2018. Information on ordering regalia is available from the UF Bookstore (392-0194). An order form can be found at https://commencement.ufl.edu. Click on “Academic Regalia,” then “Faculty Regalia Order” at the bottom of that menu. Payment is required when placing an order. Formal academic regalia is required for all faculty members attending the university-wide commencement ceremonies as a platform party member or as an escort or hooding faculty member for doctoral degree candidates. Colleges will determine whether participating faculty will be required to wear regalia at their recognition ceremonies.
Faculty Escorts: Candidates for Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education, Doctor of Nursing Practice, Doctor of Plant Medicine degrees will be assigned an official commencement escort. Candidates for Doctor of Audiology, Doctor of Business Administration, and PharmD will be hooded by designated faculty members of that program. Faculty designated as escorts or hooders will receive an e-mail from the Office of the Provost with further details about responsibilities, assembly times and hooding instructions. This e-mail is generally sent two weeks prior to commencement. However, if you have a graduate student scheduled to graduate during this semester, please order your regalia on or before the November 1, 2018 deadline.
Marshal Robes: Faculty members serving as a marshal at the university-wide ceremonies do NOT need to order academic regalia – a marshal robe is provided to all marshals, free of charge, for use at the university-wide commencement ceremonies.
