Announcement Regarding Leadership Transition within the UF Genetics Institute
David P. Norton, Vice President for Research
After serving for six years as Director, Dr. Pat Concannon will be stepping down as Director of the UF Genetics Institute. Under Dr. Concannon’s leadership, the Genetics Institute has seen remarkable growth within its interdisciplinary research and educational missions.
Pat joined UF in 2013 from the University of Virginia where he served as a faculty member for 7 years. Dr. Concannon will continue here at UF within his tenured faculty position in the Department of Pathology, Immunology, and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Concannon is currently the principal investigator on 3 R01 grants from NIH as well as a large grant from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency in DOD. Over the course of his career, Dr. Concannon has published over 200 refereed journal articles.
Join me in thanking Dr. Concannon for his service to the UF research community and wishing him great success here at UF going forward.
Dr. Concannon has agreed to continue in the role of Director of the Genetics Institute through the end of the calendar year or until a new director is in place. We will soon be forming a committee to assist in a national search for the next leader of this important research institute.
