To welcome new faculty to the University of Florida and provide information about available resources and services, UF Human Resources has partnered with the Center for Teaching Excellence to create an online version of New Faculty Orientation hosted via Canvas. Last week, more than 400 faculty new to the University were invited to complete orientation online.

The orientation site, which will be available as a resource for faculty now and as new faculty are hired throughout the academic year, is organized into modules and features videos, helpful information, and resources about various departments on campus as well as a schedule of virtual information sessions to attend and links to classes and programs designed to help faculty navigate their first year at UF.

Beginning the week of Aug. 24, new faculty may also attend a series of synchronous Zoom information sessions. A schedule may be found online at https://welcome.hr.ufl.edu/getting-started/orientation/new-faculty-orientation/. This website also provides more information on preparing for their arrival at UF as well as their first days, first weeks, and beyond.

Departments are encouraged to access UFHR’s onboarding resources at https://hr.ufl.edu/manager-resources/recruitment-staffing/hiring-center/best-onboarding-practices-for-leaders/ to assist with welcoming new faculty. Additional information about the COVID-19 screening process for new hires may be found at https://hr.ufl.edu/manager-resources/recruitment-staffing/hiring-center/new-hire-and-covid-19-screening/.

Thank you for your support and assistance in welcoming our new faculty to the University of Florida.
