UF Engaged: Enhancing staff evaluations
Melissa Curry, Vice President of Human Resources
Last year, UFHR undertook a comprehensive review of the UF Engaged system to improve its effectiveness and reduce administrative burdens. This involved gathering feedback through focus groups with staff from various university areas, individual interviews with managers and employees, and an open-response survey conducted by the UF Faculty Senate in collaboration with the President’s Office. I’m pleased to announce that today marks the official launch of the updated evaluation system.
Beginning this month, UF Engaged will transition to a semi-annual process. Check-ins will take place in the fall, between Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, and in the spring, between March 1 to April 30. Supervisors will receive one email listing all the employees they manage, along with a reminder email seven days before the UF Engaged due date. Employees will be notified via email when the check-in period opens.
Last week, UFHR held information sessions to introduce the updates and answer questions. A session recording and updated resources are available on the UF Engaged Toolkit website: https://hr.ufl.edu/professional-development/toolkits/uf-engaged-toolkit/
Two additional information sessions are scheduled for next week, where an overview of the new process will be presented, and participant questions will be addressed. Dates and times for these sessions are available on the UF Engaged Toolkit website.
UF Engaged check-ins play a crucial role in employee performance and retention, offering supervisors the chance to give performance feedback, discuss professional development and support career growth. With the updated process, supervisors are expected to complete a check-in with each employee within the designated timeframe.
As always, we are here to help you through this transition. If you have questions or need assistance, please email UFEngaged@hr.ufl.edu.
