Disability Related Information Folder

The attached information folder is being mailed to all Deans, Directors and Department Chairs as an FYI. Within the folder I have included all current publications the University of Florida has developed to inform our students, staff and visitors about services available to individuals with disabilities. However, I want to draw your attention to three new publications that you may not have previously seen:

1. Emergency Evacuation Procedures for Individuals with Disabilities
2. Guide for Advising Students with Disabilities
3. ADA Access Information Sheet to Facilities at the University of Florida

Please review all information, especially the three new publications, and share it with staff in your area. For additional copies, please let me know.

The folder is designed with a book style end to make it easier to see it when stored on a bookshelf. Keep the folder handy and as more disability related information comes your way add the new information to the folder.

As you know, each year the ADA Office coordinates ADA information sessions for the campus. In the past, the session contacts have reached out to an average of 500 staff each year for the past 4 years. This past academic year, however, approximately 728 staff took advantage of the information sessions. I encourage you to have all faculty and staff within your area take part in the information sessions during the 1998-99 academic year. There are two types of information sessions available. Staff can either attend scheduled information sessions held at the Reitz Union, usually 4-8 each semester, or a session can be planned for an individual department during a time and date set for that department. Don’t wait for the information session notice to go out in August, plan ahead and call today for a session tailored to your specific departmental needs.
