Budget Transfers and Conversions for 1999-2000 Fiscal Year

Below you will find the deadlines for processing Budget Transfers and Conversions for the 1999-2000 fiscal year. The dates apply to all budget entities, including contract and grant accounts.

* Budget Conversions (convert allotments from one category to another and convert dollars from position salaries): June 13, 2000

* Position Transfers (transfer rate, dollars, man-years, or FTE): June 26, 2000

* Budget Transfers (transfer allotments between accounts within the same budget category): June 26, 2000

The 2000-2001 positions are scheduled to be loaded on the Web on May 26, 2000. In order to facilitate this process, on-line position transfers will be suspended effective May 25, 2000, and will not re-open until June 2, 2000 (earlier, if possible). When the position transfer application is re- opened, if you make a permanent rate transfer between 1999- 2000 positions, you must make a corresponding transfer between the 2000-2001 positions.

I encourage your staff to process budget transfers and conversions as they become aware of the need and to not wait until the deadline.
