Kenneth J. Gerhardt, professor of communication sciences and disorders, has been appointed associate dean of the Graduate School for academic programs and student affairs.

Gerhardt, a faculty member at the University of Florida since 1978, has extensive experience working with graduate students at the departmental and college level. State law authorizes me to sign certain contractual agreements on behalf of the University of Florida. In various instances that authorization has been delegated to other University officials. I hereby delegate to all Deans, Directors and Chairpersons authorization to execute “shrink-wrap”, also known as “blister-pak”, software license agreements for personal microcomputer software on behalf of the University as long as the cost of the software does not exceed $1,000.00.

Dr. Charles E. Young has announced the appointment of David Colburn to serve as interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs effective immediately. Dr. Colburn is currently vice provost and senior associate vice president for Academic Affairs and director of the Reubin Askew Institute at the University of Florida. Since August of this year, he has served as interim dean for the International Center.

We have inventoried the supply of LPO forms and believe we have sufficient supply to last through December. However, effective January 3, 2000, Limited Purchase Orders will not be accepted either in Purchasing or in Disbursements except on local fund accounts. Local funds cannot use the procurement card because their disbursements do not go through SAMAS.
