In FY 2000 the National Science Foundation will again provide funding for the acquisition and development of major pieces of scientific instrumentation. The deadline for proposals to NSF is January 18, 2000. Awards generally range from $100K to $2M with a minimum 30% cost sharing required. The University of Florida will be able to submit up to four proposals: 2 for instrumentation acquisition or development; 1 solely for development; and 1 as part or lead of a consortium. […]

The on-line textbook and course material adoption system was deployed July, 1999. Since the initial deployment, numerous enhancements have been added to improve the efficiency of the system. For the last several years, Research and Graduate Programs (RGP) has distributed all indirect costs back to the colleges after the allocation of certain central costs and the cost for supporting sponsored research. This return also includes the annual formula returns to investigators and units. In addition, RGP uses a combination of carry-forward funds and earnings from the UF Research Foundation to fund the following internal support programs:

Brian Tew, 20, a sophomore majoring in criminal justice, died Sunday at Shands Hospital as the result of injuries he suffered during an altercation at the Campus Club Apartments Saturday morning. Tew, a native of Long Island, NY was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Due to the emergency situation that exists, departments may continue to update personnel records through noon Tuesday, September 14. There is no change in today’s schedule except the early close at noon. Given a good outcome on the upcoming storm, the on-line payroll certification processing is scheduled to begin on Thursday morning and close at 5:00 p.m. All payroll should be authorized by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
