Last week, a federal court issued a nationwide injunction blocking the enforcement of the new Department of Labor overtime rule that increased the minimum salary threshold for exempt status to $47,476. Prior to the injunction, this rule was set to be effective December 1. Because the long-term impacts of this injunction are unclear, the University has made the following decisions:

Earlier this year, President Fuchs announced an across-the-board salary increase for University of Florida faculty and staff. Under this program, eligible faculty and staff will receive a 1.5 percent pay increase effective January 1, 2017. In the coming months, there also will be impacts to compensation due to changes in the Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida’s minimum wage, as described below.

Applications to establish or adjust Material & Supply Fees and Equipment Use Fees for the Summer 2017 and Fall 2017 Terms are now being accepted. All departmental requests should be submitted no later than Wednesday, February 1, 2017 and Dean’s approvals by Wednesday, February 8, 2017. This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period began October 17 and runs through Friday, November 4, at 6 p.m. EST. During Open Enrollment, employees may make new benefit plan elections and/or make changes to all State, UFSelect and GatorCare plans for which they are eligible.
