John V. Lombardi, President

The Governor’s Office has declared Wednesday, Dec. 16, as an official day of mourning in memory of the late Gov. Lawton Chiles. Except for scheduled final examinations at the University of Florida and the Law School at Florida State University, Florida’s public universities will close.

In accord with the Board of Regents policy, the University of Florida will retain sufficient staff to fulfill required functions. The University of Florida final exam schedule for all students remains unchanged and the due dates for final grade submission are unchanged. Deans, Directors and Departmental Chairpersons must determine which employees are essential to insure final exams and normal operations continue on schedule. All other faculty and staff whose services are not deemed essential on December 16 will be considered on paid leave. Those employees required to work on December 16 will be provided special leave up to a maximum of eight hours at a later date.

Should questions arise regarding A&P or USPS employees please call the Division of Personnel at 392-1336. Question regarding students and faculty should be directed to Academic Affairs at 392-2404.
