John P. Kruczek, University Controller

We have engaged the Professional Services firm of American Appraisal Associates (AAA) to perform a Building Componentization and Fixed Equipment inventory for approximately 150 of the University of Florida’s facilities utilized for Organized Research. Additionally, AAA will be performing a physical inspection of the remaining University buildings that are not utilized in Organized Research. The results of this study will be utilized as part of the University’s indirect cost proposal to the Federal Government and to comply with the new GASB reporting requirements for financial reporting purposes.

The building inspection/fixed equipment inventory portion of this assignment will not be very disruptive to you and your colleagues as the inventory efforts will be limited to the fixed equipment asset classification rather than the moveable equipment. The fixed equipment inventory will require a room by room physical inventory of such assets as:

  • Fume Hoods
  • Laboratory Benches
  • Emergency Eye Wash and Shower Systems
  • Sterilizers
  • Fixed Storage Cabinets

…. and the like.

Finance and Accounting Department staff will contact you in advance to arrange for access to your space. Please let them know if you have any “sensitive” areas and would like to schedule an appointment for the Appraisers to inventory those areas. Please do not hesitate to contact Kathy Jones or Craig Morrison at 392-1235 if you have any questions or special consideration.

We expect to complete most building visitations by the end of July, 1999. Please extend your full cooperation and access to your areas to our team members. I thank you in advance for your time and assistance with this most important project.
