David R. Colburn, Interim Provost; Vice President for Academic Affairs and Interim Dean of International Center

The University of Florida International Center invites you to join us in two very special events this week. Study Abroad Scholarships for the academic year 2000 will be awarded on Tuesday, April 18th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Arredondo Room of the Reitz Union. Scholarship applications nearly doubled this year so many faculty were involved in screening a very competitive pool of applicants. Seventy-five study abroad scholarships will be awarded for a total of $62,750. Please join us on Tuesday night to congratulate the recipients.

On Wednesday, April 19th, at 7 p.m. in the Rion Ballroom of the Reitz Union, the colleges will honor their international students who have been chosen by academic excellence by the student’s department/college. A certificate of special recognition will be presented to the student by the college representative. In addition, the Alec Courtelis Awards for International Students will be presented. This year two $1000 awards will be presented. The Alec Courtelis Awards have been given annually since 1996 to outstanding international students pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. Please join UFIC and the colleges on Wednesday evening to honor the outstanding international students of the University of Florida.
