David R. Colburn, Provost and Senior Vice President

Effective January 17, 2003, the Instructor title will no longer be used in the Academic Personnel Plan. All faculty who have the Instructor title will have his/her title changed to the Lecturer title. The Lecturer title will have three academic levels: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer and Master Lecturer. For a faculty member to advance to Senior Lecturer or Master Lecturer, he/she would have to go through the promotion process at the appropriate time.

The Academic Personnel Office will automatically change titles in the personnel/payroll system on each faculty member who has the Instructor or Instructor Librarian title to the Lecturer title effective January 17, 2003. This would include changing the faculty rank of those faculty who hold Clinical or Visiting appointments and the individual would include any administrative title he/she currently holds. A new assignment will be entered into the personnel/payroll system with an effective date of 1/17/03 – to the end date of the employees current end date depending on if the employee is a 12 month or 9 month employee. Current distributions will be adjusted accordingly for each of the employee’s assignment(s) effective 1/17/03 until the end of the existing distribution.
