Monetary awards will be granted for proposals developed by faculty members from any discipline who propose, either individually or collectively, to add international components to an existing course (course modification). The goal of these awards is to enhance and increase the international curricular offerings at the University of Florida.

All internationally related proposals will be considered (lower and upper division or graduate level), but especially courses that meet the criteria for the University of Florida Internationalization and Diversity requirement or an existing course that will be modified to meet this requirement. Eligible proposals might include courses that focus on a single region or country outside the United States or those that deal with one or more of the diverse groups within the United States but focus primarily on the country or region outside the United States from which that group or groups originated. Five awards of $3000 each will be granted for courses related to Latin America, and an additional five awards will be granted for other regions of the world.

Funds may be used for technical support for the development of online course components, videoconferencing, travel specifically related to course development activities, graduate student assistance in course development, or software and course materials.

This Internationalizing the Curriculum incentive is sponsored by the Partnership in Global Learning in the Center for Latin American Studies, the International Center, and the Office of Academic Technologies. A faculty review committee will be convened to judge proposals. Proposals must be submitted by February 7, 2003 to: International Studies Proposals: 123 Grinter Hall, P.O. Box 113225, Campus. Awards will be granted in March 2003 for projects to be completed by the fall semester, 2003. For questions, contact Dr. Sue M. Legg at smlegg@ufl.edu or 392-0375 ext. 812 in the Center for Latin American Studies, 378 Grinter Hall.
