Appointment of Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs

J. Michael Rollo, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs

I am pleased to announce that Rick Barth will assume the duties of Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs on April 24, 2003. Rick has worked in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Florida since 1999 serving as Assistant Dean of Students for Student Government and Community Relations, Interim Dean and Director of Student Judicial Affairs, and in the Vice President for Student Affairs Office for the last two years as a research assistant while working on his doctorate in Educational Leadership.

Before coming to UF, Rick served as the Dean of Students at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Associate Dean of Students at Florida State University, Director of Orientation and Assistant Director of Admissions at the University of Alabama, and as an Area Coordinator at the University of Richmond. Rick has been active in several professional associations throughout his career including the National Association of Student Personnel Administration, the National Orientation Directors Association, the Southern Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers, and the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers.

Rick received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, his Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education in Student Personnel Administration, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership program at UF and plans to complete his doctorate in the fall of 2003.
