TEAMS and USPS Merit Increase Payments

Starting today, university departments may begin the process of awarding merit increases to eligible USPS and TEAMS employees. These merit increases will be effective January 28 and must be entered by 5:00 P.M. on January 14. This deadline is very important since these increases will not be implemented later either retroactively or via “off-cycle” checks.

2004 W-2 Forms

With the end of 2004 approaching, I would like to make employees aware of changes in how they receive their W-2, Wage and Tax Statement or 1042-S, Foreign Person’s U.S. Source Income Subject to Withholding forms.

2005 Mileage Reimbursement Rate for Travel

The Internal Revenue Service has released the standard mileage rates to use for 2005 in computing the reimbursement for operating an automobile for business purposes.

Beginning January 1, 2005, the standard mileage rates to reimburse for the use of an automobile for business purposes will be 40.5 cents per mile for all business miles driven. This is up from 37.5 cents a mile in 2004.

Survey of Telecommunications Lines and Equipment

CNS Telecommunications is implementing a new communications management system that will improve our customer service delivery by consolidating and streamlining our billing and work request systems. Once the application is online, Telecommunications’ customers will be able to view all information regarding their CNS services including billing for telecom and wall plate services, long distance usage, work request status and telephone equipment inventory.

Additionally, consonant with University Rules, final examinations are not to be changed without approval of the University Curriculum Committee. Please be mindful that our students have several examinations and changing your examination can affect their entire schedule.
