Marc Hoit, Interim CIO

The University has just signed a site license agreement with Oracle for their database software. We have site licensed three major products: Enterprise Database, Clustering Software and Tuning/Management Utilities. This includes support/ maintenance for the products. In addition, we have locked in an excellent discount (45%) for any additional products that may need to be purchased.

The license was a cooperative effort with all the SUS schools and resulted in better pricing for all. Because of the site license, any UF group can use copies of the software on any UF equipment at no direct cost to them, with the exception of patient records or patient billing.

The contract is being funded by the groups on campus who already use the products. The groups supporting the site license are: Bridges, UF Foundation, Academic Technology (AT), Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), Student Health and Facilities Planning. All of these groups have existing contracts that they rolled into the new site license in order to benefit the University. I would like to thank all of them for their willingness to collaborate and help provide additional benefits to campus.

The following are the products covered by this site license:

Oracle Enterprise Manager
-Change Management Pack
-Configuration Management Pack
-Diagnostics Pack
-Tuning Pack

Oracle Database
-Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
-Real Application Cluster

Academic Technology – Software Licensing Services will be handling the distribution of the contract number for service. For additional information about the contract and how to obtain the software, go to http://software.ufl.edu/oracle.
