Administrative change in the College of Medicine

J. Bernard Machen, President and Doug Barrett, Senior Vice President of Health Affairs

Dr. Bruce Kone has been relieved of his duties as dean of the College of Medicine, President Bernie Machen and Senior Vice President of Health Affairs Doug Barrett announced Thursday.

Kone, who was appointed as dean in May 2007, will retain a faculty position within the department of medicine in the division of nephrology.

Dr. Michael L. Good has been appointed acting dean with the expectation that an interim dean will be named following discussions with faculty. Good, an anesthesiologist who joined the faculty in 1988, currently serves as the College of Medicine’s senior associate dean for clinical affairs.

The administrative changes are effective immediately.
